PRAYER LETTER FOR JULY, 2010

Monday, August 09, 2010
Dear Pastors, Churches, Friends and Loved Ones:

“All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen” (Titus 3:15).
    First, From Broter Raul:
This month we greatly rejoiced seeing God adding new members to our church. We had a baptism service in the River Jiu, near Filiasi; two candidates received New Testament baptism. We had a riverside service with several in attendance. Some came only out of curiosity, wanting to see “the Anabaptists baptizing.” This is how Union Baptists call us, though we, like our Anabaptist predecessors, reject the name, claiming that a false church, by whatever name it goes, cannot administer valid baptism. After the riverside service we all met to celebrate the second church ordinance, the Lord Supper. We had a wonderful time of fellowship, rejoicing with and welcoming the new members.
I would ask you for special prayer for Miriam and me, as we are getting married this month on the 21st. It is a very important step for both of us, and we are aware that both individually and as a family we must be examples to others. We would appreciate your prayers for us in this respect.
The literature ministry is going well. We were able to buy last month a good quantity of paper, and this month we are reprinting several publications. The Baptist Church Manual by J. E. Cobb, adapted for our Romanian use is ready to be printed. After the wedding we will put out the new catalog of free publications.
To the international (Internet) project we have added a short Gospel material in the Italian language.
Our prayer before the throne of grace, and we hope you will join us in it, is that the Lord might work through our church and through the literature ministry to bring to Him His lost sheep in Romania and Europe.
    Brother Raul

    From Brother Curtis:
    ROMANIA NEWS:
It is a great encouragement to Janet and me to see the work of God going forward here. To see faithful men and women taking a stand for Christ and for His Word, separating themselves from the world’s false, man-made religion of works and ritualism is heartening, to say the least. We know that men and women are made faithful by the work of the Spirit and the Word of God, so we give all the glory and praise to Him. Great things he hath done in the lives of some people here.
It is also a great encouragement to see others “looking our way.” Some ask for literature, some ask for us to come and preach to them, some ask for baptism, and so forth. And because of your help – your very real participation in this work, we are able to supply them with gospel literature, doctrinal studies, grace sermons, and the like. Because you are faithful to help us, they can have a gospel preacher come to preach to them, and through the Church here, they can receive scriptural baptism.
Because, just like in America, here in Romania so many different things have been preached, people are confused about many things. It is our joy to be able to show them what the Bible teaches. Those that are hungry and thirsty find food and drink in Christ and His Word!

    ON THE OKLAHOMA FRONT:
Transition Funds: Special offerings for our transition to Oklahoma were received this month. Another gift came from Grace Baptist Church in Melbourne, FL where Eld. Ed Bowen is pastor. We also received an offering from the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Caldwell, KS where Eld. Nathaniel Hille is pastor. And the Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK where Eld. David O’Neal is pastor also sent a gift. Our thanks and appreciation go out to all of you who have been able to help us in this way!
Shipping of personal effects: After scouting out available carriers here in Romania, we have chosen to ship our clothing and personal effects using Missionary Expeditors of New Orleans and their Romanian contacts. Bro. Frank James, missionary to Australia and New Guinea, recommended this company to us. Because only air freight is available from Romania to the U.S., we have paid out $3,368.70 to them for shipping, customs fees and a month of storage. Thank you for helping us meet this expense!
Medical care: After getting settled in Oklahoma, we hope to get some of our more pressing medical, dental and vision needs looked after. Janet and I both have some issues that need to be dealt with – in addition to my chronic leukemia. We have been without adequate medical care with the exception of the few times we have been in the States during these past eleven-plus years. Please pray about these needs – that we can get the proper doctors for Janet. I will “take what comes along” at the Indian clinics and hospital.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all of you who do what you can to have a part in the Romania mission work! You pray for us and care about us and some are able to help us financially. Surely God will reward you for your faithfulness to the great commission! We are grateful to you and to God for you! God bless!
Please pray for the Pughs, and for Brothers Raul and Aurel!
In the cause of God and truth.
