PRAYER LETTER FOR MAY, 2010

Tuesday, June 08, 2010
Dear Pastors, Churches, Friends and Loved Ones:
“All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen” (Titus 3:15).
    First, From Brother Raul:
This past month was a blessed one for us, since we were able make the trip to Eastern Romania. The trip lasted one week, we traveled more than 1400 miles and had meetings with people every day. We visited 6 places: (3 cities, 2 towns and 1 village) and spent wonderful time with the people. In the village near Braila we visited a group that studies church truth and the doctrines of grace. We studied with them about the keys of the Kingdom, the 7 characteristics of the model ecclesia built by Jesus Christ (after J. R. Graves’ Old Landmarkism) and biblical principles of identifying true churches in history. We have had two requests for baptism and also several other people are seriously considering baptism and joining our Church.
Please pray for all the people we have visited, that the Lord might bless the work He began in them. And pray for us, that we might be good examples and witnesses of God’s wonderful grace.
    Brother Raul

    ROMANIA NEWS:
    From Brother Curtis:
I am continually amazed, very pleasantly and thankfully so, that we continue to receive requests for literature almost daily.  Brother Aurel stays quite busy not only in producing the needed literature, but also in mailing it out.  Most of it goes to addresses here in Romania, but also to other countries around the world.
Right now our Risograph (digital duplicator) is broken.  It does not sound like an expensive part, but the knife that cuts the paper masters used in each printing run is jammed.  According to the info given us over the telephone, it probably needs replacing.  This involves a trip to Cluj-Napoca (5 hours each way) to the dealer.  Hopefully this trip can be made later this month before our supply of literature runs out.  It is difficult to catch up when items become out of stock, as you may imagine.
The last month has been rainy and cool here in Romania.  There has been so much rain that some homes have been flooded and others washed away by raging mountain streams.  Probably the vegetable gardens will not produce much this year.  About half of the people in Romania depend on their gardens for much of their food.  There will be little to harvest this year from their gardens, I fear.   All this rain also means that the rivers are high, making it impossible to baptize until the waters recede a bit.  The Danube is not only flooding here in Romania, but also upstream in Hungary.  There is much flooding on the tributaries of the Danube upstream in other countries, also (such as Poland).

    ON THE OKLAHOMA FRONT:
Transition Funds:  Special offerings for our transition to Oklahoma were received this month from Grace Baptist Church in Melbourne, FL where Elder Ed Bowen is pastor.  We also received an offering from the South Irvine Baptist Church, Irvine, KY where Elder Donnie Burford is pastor and also from Grace Baptist Church, Fairmont, GA where Elder Al Lyons is pastor. We received also an offering from the Faith Baptist Church, Seffner, FL where Elder J.W. Carr is pastor. We are grateful for these Churches and their kind and generous help towards our being settled in Oklahoma.
Shipment of Goods:  The first estimate on shipping our goods to the U.S. was just too costly, so we pared down by about one-third what we are taking back.  It looks like it is going to cost us about $3,000.00 to get our goods to New Orleans.  Then we will need to rent a truck (“UHaul”) to get them up to Oklahoma.  Please add this matter to your prayer requests for us.
I am very thankful to have a Church that stands behind us in our missionary efforts.  Brother Jerry Dodson (our pastor) has repeatedly assured us of their support in continuing the Romanian work from our base in Oklahoma.  We expect to remain busy with not only prayer and administrative duties, but also in the translation and editing of sound literature.  Two of the male members of our Church have volunteered to assist in the loading, etc., of our goods in Louisiana and also in driving them to Oklahoma and unloading them there.  This is a great relief to Janet and me as we cannot do these things on our own due to physical limitations.  Praise the Lord for our Church!
Housing:  While framing and brick work has started on some of the houses where we expect to live, they cannot yet give me a firm move-in date.  So we stay busy here and also are finalizing all the paperwork needed for the international shipment of our personal effects.
Whoops!  I am out of space again!  Thank you all – each and every one of you – who stand with us in the work here!  By your giving and your prayers you are partners with us – you enable us to do the work God has set before us.
    Thank you!
Please pray for the Pughs, and for Brothers Raul and Aurel!
In the cause of God and truth.
