PRAYER LETTER FOR APRIL, 2009
“All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen” (Titus 3:15).Our hearts’ desire is that God may bless you abundantly by His grace in all your service to Him!
| “I believe mission
trips to be essential to our work, as they provide us with direct, personal
contact with the people that show interest in our doctrines. Our literature
reaches many places and many times interest arises, and people contact
us and desire to meet us. We try to go everywhere we are invited,
and, by the Lord’s grace we have been able to visit most of the people
that invited us, at least once. With some people we do not receive
a second invitation, as they like only some things we believe, but oppose
others. We have refused to make second visits in some cases, as we thought
that those people were just rebels and troublemakers, interested only in
a power struggle in their churches, and we do not want to be associated
with such things.
However, most of the people that invite us are serious minded and spiritually mature. We try to help them as much as we can, not only by means of literature, but also by these visits. Each of these visits has provided us with opportunities to preach, teach, and engage in many hours of Bible discussions, often long into the late hours of the night. Many have grown in truth and we continue to pray and to minister to them. We hope several will take a stand for the truth by asking for baptism and church membership. There are several locations that we visit repeatedly (though not as often as we and the people wish). These are generally places where several Brothers have shown an interest in the truth. The distances are pretty great, and every mission trip is time and cost consuming. We measure distances in hours, because we do not have freeways (except a 70 mile long one), and the roads are pretty bad in many places. As I am writing this, Aurel and I are on such a mission trip in the South of the country, six hours away from Bocsa. We are visiting a family that has already begun to take a stand for the truth. They left the Baptist Union Church because of liberalism and Arminianism. This family already asked for scriptural baptism and membership. All the time we spend here with them is a blessed and refreshing time for us, too. They gather on Sundays in their home for a Bible study, as Brother George is a good and knowledgeable teacher. They already have had some visitors. The fartherest place we visit is in the East of the country, about seventeen hours away from Bocsa, where a group is studying our materials on church truth and is considering asking for membership. We hope to be able to visit them next month. We ask you to pray for us, as the work is great, and the Lord is opening more doors, and we feel burdened by the desire to visit and teach and help them. Pray for these people, too, for as any stand for the truth they take means great opposition from the religionists of the place.” |
As I have indicated before, both Brother Raul and Brother Aurel are faithful
servants of the Lord, sound in the doctrine of grace and church-truth.
They believe the Bible literally and are both studious and well able to
teach and discuss Bible truth with all sorts of people.
Natural Work: This past week Brothers Aurel and Raul took
two days off from their usual work of translation, correspondence, and
preparation of literature. These two days were spent in steel-brushing,
repairing and repainting the front of the mission property as well as the
large solid metal gate used both by cars and people to enter the place.
The weather takes it’s toll on both concrete and the finish on the mud
bricks used to build the house. The front was looking bad, but now
has a “new shinning face” to present to the public. A bit more paint
on the wooden roll-up shutters and all will be done that we can do at this
time.
Once again I am out of space! Our hearts are filled with thankfulness
for your interest. The fact that you pray for us and sustain us financially
– these things are a very real part of the work here and without your cooperation
in the Lord’s work here, humanly speaking, we could not remain. Please
accept our most sincere THANK YOU, and please, above all else, continue
to pray for us all and for those to whom we minister.
In the cause of God and truth with you,
Curtis and Janet Pugh
