Dear Pastors and Churches:
"Grace
be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen."(Ephesians
6:24).
Heafth
News:
Janet is doing well after her eye surgery. To those of you that contributed
toward the cost of this medical procedure we say a heartfelt THANK YOU!
She no longer has double vision and her depth perception has been restored
so she has a much easier time getting around. I seem to be slowly gaining
ground, though I am presently recovenng from another 'siege' complete with
a dozen or so red spots and some low-grade fever. Each 'siege' seems to
be less severe than the previous one and so we rejoice in this. Thank you
for your prayers and concern. I am able to go well for 6 or so hours and
then I must have a rest before continuing whatever work I am involved in
at the moment. So I must learn to pace myself.
Travel Plans:
Our plans are to fly from the United States back to Romania on the 11th
of April. We will leave on Monday afternoon, arrive in Budapest, Hungary
(via London) on Tuesday morning local time, wait for almost 12 hours for
a van to take us on to Timisoara, Romania and then on to Bocsa. We should
arrive at home sometime before noon on Wednesday - a long time traveling!
Pray for us in this matter, please.
Bocsa Meeting:
Services continue to be held regularly in Bocsa in our absence. At the
moment of writing this, Brother Raul is sick with the flu and I do not
have many details, but believe there is continued interest and attendance
by the recent visitors.
Oltenia Preaching Point:
Brother Aurel and Brother Raul have been able to make some trips to Oltenia
since my last letter to you, but winter weather has stopped them on at
least two occasions. Once again, when they were able to go, Brother Raul's
old car was damaged by the severely broken up pavement - this for the second
time. Paved highway conditions are typically badly broken up this time
of year. It is just one of the things with which we must contend. Mv car
remains immobile and will be until I can get there and see to getting the
brakes fixed to make it operational. Pray for the Brothers in Oltenia.
They will be meeting for Bible study and prayer alone until we return to
them after my car is repaired.
Other Places:
After continued 'desperate' cries for someone to come and help them with
their questions and wanting someone to preach to them - and not being able
to go myself, I sent to them Brother Raul and Brother Aurel. I refer to
the Brothers in the central and eastern part of Romania who have been asking
for more than a year for us to come and help them. Brother Raul and Brother
Aurel went to two cities by train as Raul's car is broken and winter weather
made travel over the mountains most dangerous. After an all night train
ride I understand these young men were well received in the first large
city and again in the city farther east the reception was most warm. The
Brothers there have indicated that I too must come to them at the first
opportunity and I certainly want to do so that I might have some spiritual
fruit among them. (It is not our policy to any longer divulge in our public
prayer letters the names of cities and towns to which we go to preach.
The reason for this is that the Romanian enemies of the Gospel obtain this
information through an apostate Sovereign Grace Landmarker or two in America
and then do all they can to hinder our meetings. We are trying to be as
wise as serpents and as harmless as doves. If you support this work and
wish to know the exact localities to which we refer, please contact me
and I will be happy to supply you with all the information you desire.)
Literature Work:
The literature work continues with new titles being readied and stocks
of current titles being constantly reprinted so as to meet the requests
we get for these items. Translation and production of literature is often
trying because of the exacting nature of the work. The details that must
be taken into consideration in securing an accurate translation into Romanian
from English make this "real work" and each title requires many hours of
concentrated effort to prepare it for publication. Please pray for this
aspect of our work.
Personal Notes:
Janet and I continue to anticipate our return to Romania! We are trying
to purchase some things for the work there and a few gifts for special
people there as well. We will continue to do this as we are able until
we actually leave the United States.
Last Friday Janet and I drove to McAlester, Oklahoma to be with my mother,
brother, sister and sister- in-law as well as other relatives and friends
in a belated 93rd birthday gathering for my mother. It was a good time
and it meant much to my mother to have all three of her children together
even for a few hours. Afterward we drove to Little Rock, AR and visited
with Janet's brother and sister-in-law. Then we visited the graves of Janet's
mother and father. (She had never seen the graves as she was not able to
be present for either of her parent's funerals.) Janet arranged a beautiful
bouquet of artificial flowers for the marker and we drove by the house
where she and her parents lived until I married her. This day was a sad
and difficult time for Janet, but important, I believe, that she be able
to make this visit.
Again we wish to extend to you' our sincere appreciation for your standing
with us! We thank you for your financial support - both regular and special
gifts - and most especially your prayers to God on our behalf! Please continue
to remember us to our Glorious Sovereign as we are involved in final preparations
for leaving the United States and taking up the work first hand in Romania
once again.
In the cause of God and truth,
Curtis and Janet Pugh
