PRAYER LETTER FOR
JULY, 2008
Thursday, August 14,
2008
Dear Pastors and Churches:
“All that
are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be
with you all. Amen” (Titus 3:15).
Grace
be with you! If God is gracious to us, what more can we need or desire!
Meetings, Conferences: We need to make a mission trip to the
eastern part of Romania and have also been asked to come again to the Republic
of Moldova. There are a total of 7 places that need teaching and
preaching meetings. The places are all relatively close together
– at least in the same eastern and northeastern part of Romania and western
Moldova. This will be an expensive trip lasting two weeks or more.
Money will be needed not only for fuel and some meals, but also for some
lodging (lodging and meals will be provided in a few places) but also for
fees, taxes and insurance in order to enter the Republic of Moldova.
We estimate the cost at a minimum of $1,500 for this extended trip.
Please pray about this!
Electric Bill: We have a new electric company with a new billing
procedure. We should be receiving a bill sometime this month.
You will note the effects of this new billing system on the financial reports
in the future.
Filiasi: As I wrote last month, attendance has been growing in Filiasi,
but lately the devil is hindering the meeting. While there are visitors
more interested than ever in attending the services, one man seems jealous
and is trying to cause trouble. Complicated events have caused us
to lose our meeting place. We were meeting in a room in a private
dwelling. We have felt for sometime the need for a more accessible
meeting place. Now we must locate a suitable place to rent – either
an apartment, a room, or a house. Please, please pray about this
need of a meeting place! It is urgent!
Church Organization: We have had to put the Church organization
on hold until some things are resolved in Filiasi. Please be mindful
of the needs in this matter. The opposition there did not come as
a complete surprise, but it’s timing seems designed by the enemy to stop
the new Church from being organized. We will see what God will do
and how He will work things out in the days and weeks ahead. Your
prayers greatly appreciated regarding this aspect of the work.
Medical: A little over 2 months ago my hemoglobin was holding
steady at about 8.5 – however, this week I had another blood test and it
is down to 7.9. The specialist in Budapest said to wait until next
week and have it checked again. If it is lower, I will need to go
to Budapest in order to receive blood. Your prayers are appreciated
regarding this health situation. Nobody knows why my hemoglobin is
sometimes steady (but low) and why it sometimes goes down. Janet
has been having severe pains in her right eye in the last several days.
It seems that some feeling is coming back into her face around that eye
– the one she had surgery on about 4 years ago. The heat is taking
it’s toll on her as we are having real Oklahoma-style Summer weather here
now. How she keeps going and gets the things done that she does is
a testimony to the grace and power of our God!
Summer Projects: Three Churches have sent in a total of $2,000
in special offerings this month. Nothing was specified as to the
intended purpose of these offerings, so we have set the money aside here
toward getting the maintenance projects done – if sufficient funds come
in. So we are waiting on the Lord to see if He will, through His
Churches, supply these needed funds. We ask that you all pray about
these things.
Literature: We have completed the translation and verification
(double checking) of Elder Milburn Cockrell’s book, IN SEARCH OF THE UNIVERSAL
INVISIBLE CHURCH. Next week we should have it formatted and available
on our web site and soon we shall make it available in print. Brother
Raul continues his work (as he has free time) on providing selected historical
evidences as to the continual and connected existence of different groups
throughout history who held our doctrines and principles. Our Landmark
position is denied by the vast majority of “Baptist” leaders here in Romania
– and the average person here knows nothing of our connection to the Church
established by Christ while on earth. Our website, by the way, continues
to be visited – not by as many people as we would like – but by people
(probably mostly Romanians) from several countries of Europe, Asia, and
North America. This is a way to make the truth available to interested
persons around the world.
I see that I am about out of space once again! Thank you all for
your interest, your earnest prayers on our behalf, and your gracious and
generous and faithful financial help! In all these ways, you “hold
the rope” for us all here. Our prayers for you are that God will
bless and use you all in your places of service to Him!
In the cause of God and truth with you,
Curtis and Janet Pugh
