PRAYER LETTER FOR JULY, 2009

Tuesday, August 11, 2009
Dear Pastors and Churches:
“All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen” (Titus 3:15).
Our prayer for each of you is that God will greatly manifest His grace in you and through you all!  His grace is sufficient for all things!
Mission Trip:  The proposed mission trip to Eastern Romania had to be postponed, but it is expected to take place later this week.  Please be in prayer as two different groups of preachers will be taught and new literature will be distributed among them.  Probably a total of 15-20 preachers will be reached as well as other individuals.  Many hours of driving are involved on bad roads shared with some of the most careless and reckless drivers in the world.  Please remember to pray for all aspects of this trip!
New Church Votes:  The new Church here in Romania, Adunarea Baptista ,,Harul Suveran,” recently voted to continue the support the mission was giving to our Church’s missionary work here in Romania and to review their support in the next few months with a desire to then increase the amount of support if possible.  This is a big step for this new Church, especially considering her financial condition and that of her members.  Praise the Lord for His working in the hearts and lives of those who have been helped by the Word of God.  I am reminded of the ten lepers – only one was thankful and appreciative for what he had received.  Thank God for those who are thankful for what God has done for them!  And their true thankfulness is seen in their desire to get the Word to others!
New Church Support:  The Grace Baptist Church of Fairmount, Georgia has begun supporting our Church’s mission work here in Romania.  We extend our appreciation to Elder Allen Lyons and the members of this Church for their interest and financial help!  Many hands make light work and this is equally true in the spiritual realm as in the natural.  Thanks be to God for this Church’s concern for missions and for their helping hand extended to our Church!
Special Gifts:  A few months ago Brother Aurel wrote a part of our prayer letter and just mentioned his hope that someday we could purchase a collator.  Such a machine would enhance our production of literature – tremendously speeding up the gathering of pages in sequence.  (We now have to put the pages to be gathered on a table and march round and round putting them in order – a time-consuming operation to say the least.)  The Sovereign Grace Baptist Church of Craigsville, WV and Elder Steve Trescott prayed about this need and God led them to send our Church a check to pay for this expensive piece of equipment.  At this writing we are in the process of transferring the funds from the U.S. and already have a contract on the new machine.  It should be brought to us from Germany and installed by the dealer in about two weeks.  We are excitedly awaiting the new tool and ask you to join us in praising the Lord for this great help!
In addition, the ladies of Grace Missionary Baptist Church of Frankfort, Kentucky where Elder Lonnie Bennett is pastor sent us a surprise “care package” since our last writing.  It contained many thoughtful items – including a box of grits!  Janet already has plans to prepare a mid-day “breakfast” meal for some Romanian brothers and sisters, giving them all a taste of this Southern delicacy about which they have heard much!  Such thoughtfulness as expressed in sending along such packages is greatly appreciated.  Thank you ladies, for these kind gifts!
Several of you take time to write to us and also to send along cards – and even some phone calls – which are all greatly appreciated and cherished.  Thank you for keeping us in mind and in your prayers!  Your thoughtfulness eases our loneliness in these thoughtful ways.
Another Trip to Budapest Is Necessary:  Both Janet and I recently went to an ophthalmologist here in Romania – much to our frustration and disappointment.  The whole ordeal was unsatisfactory, to say the least.  I hope you will join us in prayer for our Romanian brothers and sisters who must use doctors here in Romania!  Really!  The medical profession in this country is worse than a joke – a bad joke.  We do need to have our eyes examined by a competent doctor and so have made appointments with such a doctor in Budapest, Hungary for Wednesday the 26th of this month – August.  It is thought that Janet has cataracts (in addition to her very dry eyes) and that I have the beginning of macular degeneration.  This will be an expensive trip as we must stay for several days or make a return trip in order to get our new glasses after they are made.  (Prescriptions for medicine and glasses written in Hungary cannot be filled in Romania – so much for the European Union!)  These are a few of the “difficulties” we face living in a 3rd world former communist country.
As is the case every month, I am out of space too soon! Since our last writing God has encouraged us in many ways.  Some of these encouragements are mentioned above and for all these things we are thankful.  Your interest in this mission work is greatly appreciated – your prayers and your financial support enable us to remain on the field and pursue every Scriptural effort to evangelize and teach Romanian-speaking people!
Thank you for all you do!
Please pray for the Pughs, and for Brothers Raul and Aurel!
In the cause of God and truth with you,
    Curtis and Janet Pugh
