PRAYER LETTER FOR JUNE, 2009

Monday, July 13, 2009
Dear Pastors and Churches:
“All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen” (Titus 3:15).
May the God of all grace supply you with all your needs according to His riches in glory!
New Church Organized:  I am happy to be able to report that a new Baptist Church was organized here on June 21st.  Our Church in Denham Springs, LA voted to dismiss her Romanian members for the purpose of organizing a new Church.  Having this authority from our Church and having taught them and furnished these folk with our Church’s Confession of Faith with a suitable article included to serve them as a covenant, they agreed to walk according to the same, having previously stated their desire for me to form them into a New Testament Baptist Church.  They chose the name “Adunarea Baptista Harul Suveran” for themselves. Wanting to stay away from any connection with the Baptist Union churches, their name means “The Sovereign Grace Baptist Assembly.”  They elected Brother Aurel Miclea to serve as their Church Clerk.
Pastor Ordained: After being organized into a Scriptural Church, the members elected Brother Raul Enyedi to serve them as pastor and asked me to assist them in his ordination.  All concerned having known Brother Raul’s life and doctrine for years, a lengthy doctrinal and personal period of questioning was deemed unnecessary.  I spoke for a time on the relationship of pastor and people and then brought a charge to Brother Raul.  This was followed by the laying on of hands and a prayer for Brother Raul’s ministry.  Several visitors were present and they, as well as the members, were rejoicing about the new Church and newly ordained pastor.
Baptismal Service: A special celebration was held in Romania on Saturday July 4th – it was the new Church’s first baptismal service. Meeting first here in Bocsa, after a message by their pastor, Brother Raul Enyedi, a good group of persons traveled by car about 35 miles to a site on the Timis River suitable for immersions.  (There is sufficient water closer to Bocsa, but it is badly polluted and therefore unhealthy.)  There in the waters of the Timis River three adults (2 women and one man) were immersed into the Church.  It was a joyful occasion!
Lord’s Supper: The next day, Sunday, July 5th the new Church gathered in Bocsa – all members present as well as several visitors – and after much prayer and hearing the preaching and reading of the Word, the Church observed the Lord’s Supper for the first time.  Having gone without the ordinance for some time, it was a solemn and yet joyful occasion and much brotherly love and tender affection was evident.  To Janet and me, it is a great joy to see these Brothers and Sisters walking according to the New Testament and functioning on their own as a New Testament Church!
Special Offering: As you know, since our mails are unreliable, it is our practice to say “Thank You” in this report for special offerings whether designated for us personally or for the work.  The Pleasant Plains Baptist Church of Pleasant Plains, Illinois sent us a generous love offering this past month and we want to express our appreciation for this kind act.  THANK YOU to Brother Timothy Hille and the membership there!
Mission Trip: It is past time, in our opinions, for a teaching and preaching trip to the eastern part of Romania.  It is expected that two areas will be reached on this trip. Requests have come asking for us to come and teach in both places.  Meetings are expected to be held in the Braila area and also in Bacau.  Both these locations have been the scenes of previous such meetings and these folk have been furnished with our literature which they have been studying.  At this time, it looks as if the trip will be made shortly after the first of next month.  We urge you to join us in prayer for these proposed meetings!
Continued Ministries: We want to make it clear that both Brother Aurel Miclea and Brother Raul Enyedi will continue in their work with us.  While they have responsibilities in the new Church, their weekdays will be spent in laboring together with us in this mission work.  Presently there are ongoing literature projects being translated.  These will be published and supplied to interested persons as we are enabled to provide them.  Please continue to pray for all of us here as we labor together.
Trip to Budapest: After having my blood analyzed by two different labs - one in our town and the other lab in the nearby county-seat city, it was determined that I ought to go to Budapest, HU for a blood transfusion.  So on June 14th after services here in Bocsa, Brother Raul and I left for the clinic.  My hemoglobin had tested at 7.7 at one lab and 7.3 at another.  However, upon being tested at the hematology clinic in Budapest, by hemoglobin tested at 8.3.  A reading of 8 or less is the point when a transfusion is given, so it was decided by the specialist that I did not need blood.  I cannot explain the event except to rejoice that God is in control – even of my hemoglobin level!
As is the case every month, I am out of space too soon!  Please accept these brief words of appreciation for your interest, cards, letters, financial support and prayers as our THANK YOU for your love and standing with us in the work here.
    Please pray for the Pughs!
In the cause of God and truth with you,
    Curtis and Janet Pugh
