PRAYER LETTER FOR MAY, 2009

Thursday, June 11, 2009
Dear Pastors and Churches:
“All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen” (Titus 3:15).
Once again it is time to send forth our monthly report.  Our fervent desire for all of you is that the Lord might heap grace abundantly upon you all!
Health issues:  Even as I write this I am feeling very weak and the cause is that my hemoglobin is extra low.  Tuesday it was tested by a local lab and was 7.7, but my hematologist is not in the country of Hungary.  He will be next week, so plans are to test my blood again tomorrow (Friday) and if it shows low again, we will travel to Budapest and see the doctor Monday morning.  We must be there two days in order to get the blood transfusion.  Janet is doing some better in that the knee that was so very, very painful is noticeably less painful now.  For this we praise the Lord!  Please continue to pray much for her as she has continual dizziness and dry eyes.  Without her eye medication, the ophthalmologist says her cornea will dry out and she will go blind.
Hindrances of the Devil:  I had thought to be able to report to you on the organization of a new Church in this prayer letter, but Satan has hindered us.  The weakness that is presently upon me just will not allow me to organize the new Church at this time.  We know that the Devil can go only as far as the Lord God Omnipotent allows him, so we are not fretful, but are very desirous of getting this new Church properly organized.  Please be much in prayer.  We fully expect to be able to organize the group into a New Testament Church before this calendar month is up.
Rats: We are once again being plagued with rats.  Whether it is because of the rainy weather, neighbors who do not mow their back yards, or some ongoing construction taking place on either side of the mission property, we do not know.  I believe that two rats have been found dead in our dog’s pen.  One or two have been caught in traps we have set in the immediate area of the house, and in several instances the poison we have put out has been eaten.  Rat poison here comes in little packets that the rats find tasty.  Just a day or so ago, we found rat sign and a partially eaten packet of rat poison under the hood of the Nissan.  What the rat was doing on the car’s battery we cannot know.  This is a serious matter, for we and others nearby have had serious damage done to automobiles by rats and or mice.  One, you may remember, ate through the “boot” around the shift lever and came into the Nissan.  At other times they have gnawed on the exposed wires under the hood and also near the back bumper.  Of course they can spread disease also, so this abundance of the ugly little things is a real problem.  We are doing all we can and praying that God will remove the hindrance and expense they bring.  Please pray with us about this problem!
Literature:  We continue to receive requests almost daily for our literature.  Even though many “churches” have forbidden their members to read any literature and others have specified that their members are not to read our publications, requests continue to come in.  Just today a young believer telephoned to tell us he received our most recent packet of literature.  He said that the church he attends is not preaching the Gospel that saved him.  He is learning, it seems, from Bible study and says that our literature has helped him much.  To be used of God in the growth and development of a young believer’s life is a great privilege!  We thank the Lord for this.
Others who help in the work: Besides those of us who work full-time in this ministry, there are numerous others who request and distribute our literature.  Our literature has gong into nearly every “county” in Romania as well as around the world.  Brother Aurel Munteanu, a baptized brother in Filiasi continues to be zealous for the Lord.  When he has no work he takes our literature and walks many kilometers from village to village speaking to the lost and giving them our material.  Brother Nicu Fundeanu for whom we requested prayer some time ago is doing much better, but due to duties with the family animals, is not at this time able to go with Brother Aurel into the villages.  Pray for these faithful ones who do so much of the work by spreading the truths of God’s Word!
Special offering:  The Grace Missionary Baptist Church of Frankfort, KY has once again sent a very generous special offering this month for the work.  They are faithful to support us regularly and we do appreciate so very much both their regular help and this special offering!  Thank you!
Once again I am out of space!  But we do want to once again THANK YOU for your interest in this mission effort, your earnest prayers on our behalf and your faithful support.  Surely our sowing of the seed will result in an abundant harvest when that time comes!  Pray, please, for all of us who labor and those with whom we labor.
In the cause of God and truth with you,
    Curtis and Janet Pugh
