PRAYER LETTER FOR
NOVEMBER, 2004
Wednesday,
December 08,2004
Dear
Pastors and Churches:
"Grace
be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen."
(Ephesians 6:24).
Health News:
I write you again this month from our home Church in Denham Springs, LA.
Since last writing I am happy to report no fever and also that the pain
in my feet has subsided a great deal. In fact, for more than 2 weeks now
I have NOT had to take any pain medicine! My hemoglobin count seems to
have stabilized. I am still waiting to see the rheumatologist on the 16th.
of December. Hopefully we will have some additional news for you after
that visit For updates, log on to our Church's web page - the address is
given above.
Special Appreciation:
Your many kindnesses - cards, calls, letters and financial gifts are all
very much appreciated at this time! On the reverse of this letter you will
find an accounting by our pastor of the gifts for medical expenses that
have been received. Thank you all for standing with us in this time of
sickness.
Financial Information:
I believe a word needs to be said about the U.S. dollar and it's present
state. This is provided for your information and prayer. The dollar seems
to continue to slide in relation to other currencies, particularly the
European Union "Euro". When the Euro first came on the scene, it cost 83
cents to purchase one. The dollar has declined and the Euro grown to the
point that it now costs about $1.33 to purchase a Euro. Thus the cost of
goods and services continues to rise as reflected in our reports. I believe
this decline has affected not only missionaries in Europe, but elsewhere
in the world as their income is weakened. Romania has tied her currency
to the Euro, looking forward to joining the Union. In Romania the all-out
effort to join the European Union has caused a rise in costs of all sorts
- especially on imported goods such as food, fuel, paper and other supplies.
Being thrifty and planning ahead - making do and getting by - are not only
the right thing to do now, they are absolutely necessary So, please pray
especially regarding this matter on behalf of your missionaries. Wisdom
is needed!
Bocsa Meeting:
Our contact with Brother Raul and Brother Aurel is encouraging. We receive
from them e mails and the occasional phone call. They continue the regular
services there and I believe attendance is constant.
Oltenia Preaching Point:
Meetings for prayer and Bible study continue and occasionally Brothers
Aurel and Raul are able to meet with these folk and preach to them. I am
anxious to return to minister to these folk and they are looking forward
to my return to Romania.
Other Places:
I don't know who is more anxious for me to visit several cities and communities
both in Romania and in the Republic of Moldova - the people asking us to
come, or Aurel, Raul and myself! These people have questions about doctrine
and want me to come and preach to them and answer their queries. Please
pray that soon I will be able to return to this portion of the work set
before us.
Young Preachers:
Although at present I have no personal contact with the younger preachers
with whom we have contact, Brothers Aurel and Raul do and report that things
are encouraging as these preachers learn more of grace and acceptable service
to God in one of His Churches. Pray for this aspect of the work, please!
Surely in such a time as this all of us will grow stronger in the grace
of God!
Literature Work:
Translation projects continue with the requests for our literature also
continuing. I am informed that we have at this time exceeded the number
of tracts, booklets and books given away last year. Some 29,000 pieces
have been distributed in 2004 so far! Please continue to pray for this
aspect of the work!
Janet and I rejoice, along with the Church here, to see the work in Romania,
at least in part, continuing by the hands of the young men God has raised
up to work with us! What more can we ask than that? Pray, please for Bro.
Raul and Bro. Aurel as they labor in our absence. The work is in good hands
-; not only the hands of these Brethren, but in the hands of God whose
work it is and who must "build the house" else we labor in vain to build
it ourselves.
We also want to express our appreciation to all of you who pray and to
those who give also to support this work. THANK YOU for "holding the rope"
for us and in this way enabling us to serve in Romania - though now for
a season we remain in the States seeking medical treatment Please pray
for our medical situations, for the Romanian speaking people to whom we
minister, for those who labor with us, and for the literature as it goes
out to those who request it. And let us not forget to pray one for the
other as Sister Churches laboring together in this missionary effort.
Pray for the Pughs!
In the cause of God and truth,
Curtis and Janet Pugh
