Dear
Churches & Friends,
Greetings to you in the Name of our Saviour, The Lord Jesus Christ. I pray
you are enjoying blessings and prosperity from our dear Lord as you serve
Him in His appointed place for you.
Last December a couple wrote to my Pastor and asked if I would be willing
to come to Pelican Narrows, Sask. to a Cree Reserve to preach, teach, etc.
Brother Hobbs gave the letter to me to answer. I wrote and asked numerous
questions. In the process of a few communications I learned it is a community
of 3000 people, had a missionary there for five years, that three years
ago he left (later I learned he was with B.I.M.) without giving the people
any notice. I wrote and told them to pray with me about it that I would
let them know sometime after I got home. In March I let them know I would
come in May. They had told me previously they would like me to come around
the middle of May. On the 12th of May I arrived, was warmly received. I
found they were pretty well taught in some things. They wanted a Mission
started. We are or rather my Pastor is investigating whether they have
Scriptural Baptism. Two of them have, but we are not sure about
the other four or five. I'm to return August 27th, then we will see how
the Lord leads, in the meantime they and we are praying concerning this.
I pray you will too join us in prayer.
Here we have two extra Bible Studies per week, one to an advanced student
and the other to two unsaved folks. Pray that Jesus will save them. They
are extremely interested in the Scriptures.
While we were visiting you in the states we had a young man staying
here, or we thought he was. Come to find out he wasn't therefore we had
trouble when we returned with our sewer when we started running water into
it. At first it would drain slowly then stopped completely. Hired a man
to use a snake to open it.
Also had to replace our phones. There are always a number of things that
need attention whenever we are gone over a period of time, especially 5
months this time.
One of my chain saws gave up after over 20 years. It doesn't owe me anything,
gave me very good service. So I purchased another Stihl, a little smaller
one.
I have visited our other preaching points in Alberta a number of times.
Everything is going well in them.
A bad year for gardens. We had much nicer weather in March and April, then
we had in May and June. The nights are just too cold. Down to 28 - 30 degrees.
It warms up to the 60's even had 75 the other day, but the nights
are way too cool.
I was able to get my wood supply in early this year before the bugs &
mosquitoes came out. They can and do make it most miserable.
Thank you for your prayers, cards and interest in the Lord's work here.
May His blessings abound in you and cause you to serve Him faithfully in
the place He has you.
By His Grace,
Our Love In Christ
