Dear Churches and Friends,
Greetings
to you, in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The name that
is above every name to which every knee shall bow and confess HIM as Lord.
AMEN!
I pray that the Lord has blessed each of you in this new year and has cause
you to abound in HIS grace and peace.
This new year has proven to be one of testing and blessing from the Lord
for Sister Lillian. To begin with on January 23rd the Doctor ordered her
in the hospital to evaluate her medication. During her stay in the hospital
she progressively became weaker in her legs and arms, although the Doctor
thought she was capable of going home. So, on
February
23rd she came home, on February 26th she fell down in the bathroom, we
were unable to get her up on her feet, so we had to call the ambulance
for assistance. When the ambulance crew arrived, and saw the small space
she was positioned in, they in turn had to call for further assistance,
four other men, and got her back in bed. At this time, I felt lead of the
Lord to call home care and explain the situation. The next day, February
27th, she fell trying to get back into bed, one of her nurses was visiting
at the time and was unable to assist her. Again the ambulance was called
and this time they brought extra help with them and admitted Lillian back
into the hospital. Shortly after this, they admitted her to the I.C.U.
because dementia was setting in and her general health was failing rapidly.
Her heart and kidneys were shutting down. Her Doctor then medivaced her
to Yellowknife, where her condition improved, Praise ye the Lord!! She
stayed in the hospital in Yellowknife until March 7th then she was transferred
back home to the hospital here in Fort Smith, where she has been ever since.
Lillian celebrated her 80th birthday on March 21st, the ladies of the mission,
baked her a cake and a nice bouquet of flowers, she was even able to blow
out all her candles. Lillian had a great attitude and spirit regardless
of all she has been through, although when the Doctor said she had high
blood sugar and that she was diabetic, she was very discouraged after this.
At this time, March 28th, her blood sugar has stabilized, and she has been
able to dangle her legs off the edge of the bed and eat her meals sitting
up. Today, she took 2 steps, on two separate occasions
with the nurses help. So, my dear friends, thank you and Praise the Lord
of Glory for all your many prayers for Lillian. Even though we endure trials
and tribulations in this life, many at that, the Sovereign God we serve
is in control of everything, all we have to do is trust HIM. So, please
continue to pray for Sister Lillian and as the Lord improves her health,
she will be moving over to the Northern Lights Special Care Home; at this
facility she will be well taken care of and we pray that she will become
strong enough to eventually come home.
Christina and Danielle McAdam have been very competitive this year in ski
biathlon, so consequently they have traveled to Fort McPherson, Hinton,
Canmore and Yellowknife. They have done well placing in the medal standing
and they give all the Glory and Praise to the Lord for his goodness to
them.
The Bible studies are all going very well with faithful attendance, the
people appear to be growing in the Lord, with many well thought out questions
and heart felt concerns.
The weather has been exceptionally mild with record breaking temperatures.
The coldest day we had was -38 below, we are very spoiled. I can remember
when we would experience -40 to -45 for a week to ten days at a time, the
weather patterns have certainly changed this year. A lot of people have
commented that we were fortunate to even have snow on the ground. So, needless
to say, the people are commenting with such low snow levels, we may experience
a lot more forest fires, because the bush is so dry. But regardless, we
just rest in the Lord.
Thanks to each of you that have sent cards to Sister Lillian, they have
been very well received and much appreciated, these have been a very great
encouragement to her.
In closing we want to express our appreciation of your mindfulness of the
Saviour’s work here in Fort Smith, your prayers and support in various
ways is a deep encouragement to the people we minister to.
May the Lord rich in mercy, grace and peace abound in each of your lives
and may we be mindful to always be obedient to thus sayeth the Word of
the Lord, for if we have courage and character in these last days the Lord
will bless you abundantly.
By His Grace,
Wayne E. Mowris - Missionary
