Dear Churches and Friends,
We come to thee in the first quarter of another year the Lord has provided and extend greetings to you and yours in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ; and pray that you will have an exceptional year in the service of our Lord Jesus Christ and by His Grace, may many souls be saved.
We were blessed to have a former resident of Fort Smith, one that attended the Mission for a few years when she was much younger, with her Mom and Dad; Joanne came back to Fort Smith with her husband LeRoy, who was attending school at the local College and her two beautiful little girls. While they were in Fort Smith .they attended the services and the ladies of the Mission did not waste any time in getting a hold of the babies, they were a real blessings to us and- we enjoyed sweet fellowship. Joanne still holds to the teachings of the Word that she received when she previously attended. We were so glad to see that they are teaching their children obedience according to the Word of God.
We have had a hard winter, this winter; as old man winter came in with full force and to date is not giving up very easily. It has been -40 and -50, with the wind chill, it got upwards of -60 and -65. When the weather is like this, one certainly appreciates God supplying a sound house and a warm wood furnace. When it's cold like this, the wood furnace becomes quite hungry. So, consequently, we had to purchase more wood at $200.00 a cord. The Lord takes care of His own.
I am missing Lillian and because of her absence, she went and left me. She took care of the correspondence and she did an excellent job of it. Now, that has fallen upon me, the ladies of the Mission, are a tremendous help for me in this department. The Lord has supplied the need of which we are very thankful to Him.
The tape ministry is going well to various parts of Canada and to the United States. We don't hear often from them, but occasionally we do, and when we do, they are very positive. At present we have eight families that receive the tapes. Praise the Lord for the ability to minister His Word.
Guess what?? With all this lovely freezing weather that the Lord sent our way, our car would not start, and do you know what I found out? There was no block heater in it. This has never happened to me, because any other time I have purchased a car, it was always equipped with a light oil in the rear end and block heater in the front, if the rear end does not have a light oil in it, it freezes up and the back wheels will not turn because the oil just goes solid. So, therefore, I had to purchase a block heater and we had to bear the expense of getting it installed. The reason I know about the rear end is when we first came up here, I had to have a pint of kerosene added to the rear end, because it would not move, I had a pick up then.
It is very expensive up here to do any re modeling. The kitchen and bathroom had over the years, water damage in the back of the faucets, so therefore, they needed to be replaced. To have a carpenter and a plumber to do the work, for both, its $95.00 an hour, not including all the supplies we needed to purchase. We haven't had to do anything to the kitchen or the bathrooms for 27 years, so we are not really complaining, and that's not all, with the strong winds we had in the early part of the winter, the tar paper on the garage roof which is flat, will have to be replaced and definitely the sheeting, also the garage doors will have to be replaced, they are literally falling off the hinges. Along with a few other outside projects, including the garden, we are expecting a very busy summer season. The garden is a necessity because thus far, everything up here has increased in price by 20 to 30%, and they tell us, the government that is, that because of poor crops around the world, that this is just the beginning. The Word of God prophesies to this fact, that there will be a famine in the land.
In closing, we praise the Lord Jesus Christ, for each of you, your prayers, your support, and being faithful to the Lord. May the Lord rich in all things continue to work in your hearts and lives according the riches of His glory. May we each be found faithful in the service that the Lord has given us.
    By His Amazing Grace,
