Dear
Churches and Friends,
Greetings to you and yours in HIS most precious name, the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
May you through HIS grace be prospering spiritually and materially to HIS
honour and glory.
This summer has been terrible, cold and dry with no rain at all until the
middle of August. Therefore, the garden has not done well and the harvest
very poor. The Lord has given us a few fresh vegetables of which we are
most thankful for. Due to the dry weather and the bush like tinder and
summer lightening without rain, in one month over sixty fires were started.
At first forestry just let them burn, but then strong winds came up, spreading
the fire very quickly and as a result our only way out was shutdown. In
some areas the fire was on both sides of the road creating a lot of smoke,
therefore, visibility made it impossible to travel safely. A few times
they provided a pilot care to take us through the worst sections. Then
another danger in spite of all the fire, there were herds (15-30) of
buffalo on the road. At this time the fires have died down enough that
we can travel safely, but they will continue burning through the winter
and where the muskeg is, there can be fire there for a few years.
My wife Lillian's health, it is better than it was the last quarter due
to the fact that many prayers have been offered for her and the doctor
gave her a shot of cortisone between her back and her hip, which after
a few weeks seemed to become more effective. Lillian is unable to stay
alone while I am traveling, Doctor's orders. So due to this, she stayed
at the Northern Lights Special Care Home, which is an excellent facility.
The care is exceptional and she was content to be there, but like she said
Its not like being at home" There is a fee for her staying there, then
during sister Grace's surgery there wasn't room for her at the Special
Care Home so she had to stay at the hospital. To date I have not received
a bill for this. After the Doctor's orders she could not go down the inside
stairs as they are very steep to attend services, but some of the members
suggested going out the outside stairwell, then with assistance to get
into the mission, so this way she doesn't miss any of the services. Praise
the Lord.
Concerning sister Grace's surgery for her hernia repair which was postponed
three different times. Finally on September 08, 2004 in Yellowknife she
had her surgery. All went well and she is feeling a lot better and is getting
around pretty good. Because they had waited so long, the hernia was much
larger than originally thought. Thank you for your prayers concerning this.
On September 11, 2004 Brother/Sister Clarke came to visit us from Lacombe,
Alberta. As you remember we have known them since we traveled to Fort Providence
back in 1984, who were saved at that time. They have become dear friends
and have always kept in contact with us. Lillian and I really enjoyed and
appreciated the visit and the fellowship.
Our
oldest daughter Jane arrived on September 24/04 to spend a month with us
here. It is so wonderful to see family and we look forward to a blessed
visit. This has helped Lillian even though she can't do too much, to have
our friends and our daughter come and visit. They are most helpful with
the cooking and various chores, so Praise the Lord.
With school underway for another year, please keep all our young folks
in your prayers as they face many challenges daily, especially the McAdam
sisters in their home schooling program.
Sister Beth Stock's, son Patrick age 11 has had a mouth piece put in by
the dentist to help align his lower jaw with his upper jaw This mouth piece
is to be kept in for 24 hours a day except to eat meals, it is very uncomfortable
for him and difficult for him to talk. Please keep him in your prayers.
Thank you.
We at the mission want to extend our thanks and appreciation for remembering
us in your prayers for our various needs. It is so comforting though the
distance between us is vast, that we know you are there for us. We praise
GOD for each of you and pray HIS love and grace and HIS WORD to continue
to abound in you.
In His Love,
