Roger Jones, Pastor
APRIL, 2002
Dear Brethren,
Greetings once again from Papua New Guinea in the precious name of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We pray that you are doing well and enjoying the blessings of our great
God.
"Who hath
blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:"
(Ephesians 1:3)
For
some time now, the mission members along with Cyd and I have been praying
about setting a date for the purpose of organizing the mission into a church
and to ordain Brother Norman to the gospel ministry. The Lord has enabled
us to minister here in Port Moresby for nearly four years now. In thinking
back over this time, we can see how the Lord has worked all things out
to His glory and our good, though His ways are often mysterious to us.
During the first year that we were here, the Lord saved people who had
been members of Baptist churches in PNG for a number of years. These brethren
are now the pillars of the mission. We have also seen the Lord teach and
establish the mission in His truth, which has enabled them to abandon many
errors in both doctrine and practice. This has often occurred in the face
of fierce opposition. The Lord has also instilled within the members of
the mission a desire to follow Him and to be His witnesses both here in
the city and within the nation. They also see their duty to live separately
from the world. We feel confident that the Lord will continue to work in
the hearts of His people causing them to grow and to abound in the grace
of God. Therefore, the Lord willing, we hope to conduct special services
on September 21 and 22, 2002 to organize the mission into a church, and
to ordain Brother Norman Malu to the gospel ministry.
AN OPEN
INVITATION
With
this in view, we would like to extend an open invitation to any of our
brethren who would be willing and able to come visit PNG at this time.
If September is an inopportune time and you are still interested in coming,
then we would be happy to have you visit at any time that is convenient
for you. Please feel welcome to bring your wife and children too. If you
are interested, please contact us regarding any questions you might have
concerning travel to Papua New Guinea.
Cyd and I are looking forward to a visit from our son Stephen and our daughter-in-law’s
sister, Leslee Blevins, who will be spending a few weeks with us. They
will be arriving in mid May and will be a big help to us while they are
here. We are excited that they are able to come.
We have made some great progress on the property this month. The utilities
are all connected now, which has enabled us to get started on putting up
the security fence. Several men in the mission are working as security
guards on the property both day and night. (Crime is still a big problem
here and is somewhat worse right now with elections coming up.) We plan
to continue building as we are able and as the Lord provides. We do not
know if we will have a church building completed by September, but it is
our hope that it will be. However if not, we will use the Boy Scout building
that we presently meet in for the special services.
Our sincere thanks for your continued love, prayers, encouragement, and
support on behalf of the Lord's work here in Papua New Guinea.
Love in Christ,
Brother Frank James
