JULY, 2002
"For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen." (Romans 1:36)
Dear Brethren,
"He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler" (Psalm 91:4)
It is a joy to greet you once again in the precious name of Jesus Christ.
The month of July has brought many blessings to us in the Lord's work here in Port Moresby. Two young men came forward to join by letter from a church in the Highlands. Both have been attending the services faithfully for awhile, and felt burdened that they needed to move their membership as they plan to continue living in Port Moresby. Also, a disciplined member was restored to us, for which we are
thankful. We also continue to be thankful for the faithfulness and growth of all the members and for their
desire to follow Christ and to abide in His truth.
One of our members who works for the police department was sent to the highlands to help with the
national elections and has returned safely to Port Moresby. This was during the midst of the worse
election violence ever since the independence of PNG in 1975. Around 30 people have been killed so far.
Most of the winning candidates have been declared; however due to the violence and confusion in two of
the Highlands provinces, the counting of ballots has ceased. The government is now trying to decide
whether to continue counting or to hold new elections in these areas.
The Lord has enabled us to make good progress on the property. We were able to complete the
perimeter fence on the property and to begin work on the bathroom facilities as well this month. Since
both the church building and the bathroom facilities will be on a concrete slab, we have been putting in
the plumbing and wiring that will be underground. We have also completed the cement floor for the
bathroom facilities, which will be separate from the church building. Having a separate bathroom facility
is a common thing in Papua New Guinea.
    Cyd traveled back to the USA at the end of this month. She is there for a short visit with our family and church. This was done with the intention of enabling her to have a time of rest and refreshing and to tend to a few medical needs. We had hoped to be able to take a furlough to the states sometime this fall;
however, it looks as though it will be difficult to leave the mission field until later perhaps in the early part of next year.
Thank you all for your continued love, prayers, encouragement, and support on behalf of the Lord's work here in Papua New Guinea.
Love in Christ,
    Brother Frank James
