November, 2007
Dear Brethren,
Greetings once again from Port Moresby in the precious name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  We pray that you are doing well and enjoying the Lord's abundant blessings.
Early in November a cyclone passed to the south of Papua New Guinea causing severe flooding in several provinces and heavy rains throughout the rest of the country.  There were hundreds of deaths reported as many villages were destroyed.  People are now isolated due to bridges and highways being washed away, and sickness and disease are becoming a problem.  Relief efforts have been ongoing with assistance from other countries including Australia and the USA.
The translation work has been going well with good progress being made.  Brother Norman asked me to start teaching the new material to the church, which we have already begun doing during the regular services.  This also gives us an opportunity to proof it before printing it into a book.
We have also been completing some construction work on the office in the church building so that we can set up our Risograph copy machine, as we do not have room for it in our apartment.
It became necessary to install a security light at the gate to the church property after the brethren experienced two incidents with criminals.  Brother Tom was assaulted and robbed by five men after arriving there just after dark.  He suffered some cuts to his hand as they hit him with bush knives.  Also Brother Philemon was attacked in his vehicle as he pulled up to the gate, also just after dark.  A gang of criminals broke out several of his side windows trying to steal it.  He quickly threw his keys onto the ground in the darkness, and the criminals fled as the commotion alerted Brother Norman and other neighbors who ran to his rescue.  We have also been trying to get the city to repair the streetlights along the road that have been broken for some time.
Our pastor, Brother Roger Jones, resigned this month and is now living in Paducah, KY.  We’re thankful for his faithfulness to the Lord. Your prayers for him and his wife are appreciated, and also for our home church as we seek a pastor.
Cyd is presently taking the second series of medicines for the parasitic infections that she contracted a few months ago.  They are difficult on a person’s body and therefore we also appreciate your prayers for her.  Also thank you so much for the special love offerings that were sent for her medical needs.
I am continuing to investigate the laws concerning immigration and visa requirements for both Singapore and Malaysia, as I finish up the work here in Port Moresby.
Many thanks for your continued love, prayers, encouragement, and support for the Lord’s work in PNG.
    Love in Christ,
    Frank R. James
